ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (02/18/2015)(readMedia)-- The art of Carol Galligan recognizes unique heroines-women who have died in childbirth. "Birth Memorial," a three-part exhibit, opening at Elizabethtown College Feb. 24, celebrates the gallant efforts of women who have died in the process of bringing forth life.

An artist's reception is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Lyet Gallery of the College's Leffler Chapel and Performance Center. The free exhibit continues from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through March 24.

Galligan is a past instructor at Elizabethtown College. She holds a master's degree from Rochester (N.Y) Institute of Technology, College of Fine Art and Design.
