Bomberry Named Co-Freshman Male Athlete of the Year

BATAVIA, NY (06/30/2015)(readMedia)-- Genesee Community College freshman Jacob Bomberry (Six Nations, ON) was recently recognized by the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) as the Co-Freshman Male Athlete of the Year for 2014-2015.

Bomberry played attack for the men's lacrosse team and was also named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American (Second Team), a first team All-Region III selection and a first team All-WNYAC selection this year.

He led the Cougars in total points with 78, the fourth-highest point total in the country and the second best mark in the WNYAC. He was fourth in the country in assists with 37 and scored 41 goals. He made 13 starts and appeared in all 16 games for GCC this spring.

Erie CC's Jason Vranic was also honored as co-recipient of the award.

Genesee Community College athletics program endeavors to provide a quality and competitive intercollegiate athletics program consistent with the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA) philosophy and the overall educational mission of Genesee Community College. Participation in collegiate athletics should be an extension of the total educational experience for the student athlete.
