Bonilla And Parreira Garner NCBWA Accolades

WINGATE, N.C. (01/25/2018) University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standouts Jose Bonilla and Brian Parreira have been named to the NCBWA preseason all-region team, which was released Jan. 24.

Bonilla, a senior from Aguada, P.R., posted a team-best .399 batting average a season ago. He also tallied a squad-high 93 hits, which paced the league. Bonilla was fifth in the league in triples. During his first year with the squad, he garnered 14 doubles, 16 stolen bases, had 35 RBI, crossed home 60 times and finished eighth in the PBC in on-base percentage.

Parreira, a senior from Annapolis, Md., posted a .329 batting average a season ago. He registered 47 RBI, blasted seven round trippers and legged out 15 doubles. For the season, Parreira slugged .566 and sported a .401 on-base percentage. After an outstanding week during the year, he garnered NCBWA National Hitter of the Week honors. In the NCBWA region poll, USC Aiken was ranked fifth.
