Boone Mother/Daughter Pair Takes Top Honors at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/20/2014)(readMedia)-- Seventy entrants from across the Midwest competed in the Mother-Daughter Look-alike contest judged Sunday at the 2014 Iowa State Fair.

First place was awarded to Rona Crook, 36, of Boone and her nine-year-old daughter, Jacie Flockhart, also of Boone. Second place went to Marcia Barcus, 57, of Hopkins, Mo., and Amy Paulsen, 38, of Norwalk. Judges awarded third place to Danielle Turnquist, 42, and her daughter, Emily, 11, both of Johnston. Lissa Baker, 33, and her daughter, Tristan, 14, both of Carlisle earned fourth place.

Contestants were judged on mannerisms, voice, walk and any other similarities.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
