FULTON, MO (12/20/2012)(readMedia)-- MacKenzie Bowden of Jefferson City, Mo., is the recipient of a scholarship from Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) in recognition of her efforts and achievements at William Woods University.
Missouri Colleges Funds assists private colleges and universities in Missouri by working with private donors to secure scholarship opportunities. Money for the $1,200 Outstanding Business-Related Scholarship came from the Jefferson Bank of Missouri.
Bowden is a junior at William Woods, seeking a double major in management and business administration with a psychology minor.
She works off campus at Initially Yours, a small gift and monogramming store in Jefferson City. In charge of the company's Facebook advertising and email marketing, Bowden is also looking to partner with her boss and open a second Initially Yours in Columbia, Mo., after graduation.
For two years Bowden has been a starter for the Owls on the women's softball team. Bowden accredits her success to her participation in sports, which carries over into her everyday life. She says she is motivated and strives to succeed in every aspect of her life now and in the future.
In 2011 and 2012 Bowden was part of the All-American Mideast Conference (AMC) First Team, as well as the 2011 and 2012 Academic All-AMC. She was named the Co-Pitcher of the Year for the AMC this year. Bowden also earned the 2012 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.
