Bread Winners Named at State Fair
DES MOINES, IA (09/16/2024) (readMedia)-- Robin Tarbell-Thomas of Centerville won first place overall, a $100 cash award and a signed copy of Baking Blue Ribbons in the Anything But White Bread Competition, judged Sunday, August 11, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.
Molly Thomas of Centerville earned second place overall, a $50 cash award and a signed copy of Baking Blue Ribbons. Jeni Johnson of Roland claimed third place overall, a $25 cash award and a signed copy of Baking Blue Ribbons
Entries were judged on taste, texture, aroma, appearance/presentation and clarity of recipe/creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were140 divisions, 726 classes and nearly 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
