Brent Wessel to Participate in Global Issues Seminar in Washington, D.C.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Brent Wessel of Cape Girardeau, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.
Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.
Wessel is studying for a major in mathematics with a minor in Spanish. He is a junior at Southeast and would like to pursue a career as a mathematics teacher or professor. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma and is president of the Math Club.
Wessel is the son of Chris and Rhonda Wessel of Cape Girardeau. He was a 2009 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau.
