Brian Klosterboer of Round Rock graduates from Centre College

DANVILLE, KY (06/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Brian Klosterboer of Round Rock, a graduate of Westwood High School, received a bachelor of arts degree in history at the 189th commencement ceremony at Centre College in Danville, Ky. He graduated summa cum laude, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and received the Breckenridge Jones Prize awarded to the highest ranking student in history and the Ormond Beatty Alumni Prize awarded to a senior with a distinguished record. He was also awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, and he was a John C. Young Scholar, a program that allows outstanding Centre students to conduct independent research.
Janet H. Brown, executive director of the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), was the featured commencement speaker. Brown has served as the CPD's executive director for its entire 25-year history. She received an honorary doctor of humane letters from Centre during the ceremony. The Class of 2012 is the largest in Centre's history. Members of the class include three Fulbright recipients; two Peace Corps volunteers; and two Teach for America corps members. In addition, 67 students graduated with honors: seven summa cum laude, 24 magna cum laude and 36 cum laude.
Klosterboer is the son of Larry and Janet Klosterboer of Round Rock.
Centre College, founded in 1819 and chosen to host its second Vice Presidential Debate in 2012, is ranked among the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges, at 42nd in the nation, and ranks 27th for best value among national liberal arts colleges. Forbes magazine ranks Centre 34th among all the nation's colleges and universities and has named Centre in the top five among all institutions of higher education in the South for three years in a row. Centre is also ranked fourth in the nation by U.S. News for its study abroad program.
