Brian McConnell ’13 has received a scholarship from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

DURHAM, NH (05/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Brian McConnell '13 of Peabody has received a scholarship from the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program, given to students who plan a career in science and mathematics.  McConnell is a chemical engineering major who has done research with professor Ihab Farag on converting microalgae into biodiesel.  The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, awarded to 300 students nationwide annually, is the most prestigious award in the country conferred upon undergraduates studying the sciences.

McConnell also received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Undergraduate Research Opportunity Fellowship 2011.
