Brooklyn resident Shani Brown wins outstanding student achievement award at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, CT (05/16/2012)(readMedia)-- Shani Brown, a senior at Connecticut College, was awarded the Lee Strasberg Institute Scholarship, which is given in honor of Lee and Anna Strasberg in recognition of the liberal arts as a foundation for lifetime learning and the values it offers to the study of theater. This award is a full tuition scholarship to the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City. Brown was presented with the award at the annual Honors & Awards ceremony at Connecticut College on May 1.

Brown is a 2008 graduate of Bard High School Early College.

At the ceremony, the awards were presented by President Leo I. Higdon, Jr. and Armando I. Bengochea, dean of the college. Jennifer A. Fredricks, associate professor and chair of human development faculty director, Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, gave the keynote address.
