Bryan Dickinson Honored at Western New England University

SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Bryan C. Dickinson of Essex Junction, VT, received four awards, including the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence and the Alumni Award, during Baccalaureate ceremonies at Western New England University. The Dean's Award is the highest honor presented by the College of Arts and Sciences, while the Alumni Award is presented to the student with the highest grade-point-average in the graduating class. Dickinson was also named the recipient of the Harold Heye History Award and the Maria Leonard Book Award.
Dickinson graduated summa cum laude as a member of the Honors Program with a Bachelor of Arts. He is a member of the Pi Alpha Theta and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Dickinson was selected to teach math for the Teach for America organization upon graduation. Professor of History John Baick awarded Dickinson the Harold Heye History Award saying "when it comes down to it, Bryan's true passion is not history, it is service. He wants the opportunity to give back, to pay it forward."
The Harold Heye History Award is given to the outstanding graduating senior in memory of Harold Heye, longtime member of the History Department. The Maria Leonard Book Award is given to a graduating senior who is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and who best reflects the standards of excellence for which the society is based upon; intellectual engagement and noteworthy citizenship in the academic community.
