Bucknell Student Earns Prestigious Award

The 2020 Bucknell Emerging Leader Award is presented to Jala Grant. The Emerging Leader Award is given to a member of the first-year or sophomore class who has become active in co-curricular activities and has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential.

Jala enrolled at Bucknell and before long she was engaged in a number of communities. As a POSSE Scholar, Junior Fellow (JF) for the Social Justice Residential College, Chair of Outreach for the Black Student Union (BSU), Co-Chair for the Freeman College of Management Student Advisory Board, and a member of the Committee on Campus and Student Life (CCSL), Jala has a passion for learning, leading and empowering. As a leader, Jala shows up and creates space for others to bring their authentic selves to the community. Jala is always there to give a listening ear or helping hand to those in need. She is a dependable, empathetic, and thoughtful leader with a heart for justice, and social transformation. No one is more deserving of the emerging leader award than Jala Grant. Congratulations, Jala.
