Bucknell Student Earns Prestigious Award

Galaan Abdissa '21 is the recipient of the 2020 Civility and Respect Award. This award goes to a student who not only exhibits the ideals of civility and respect within their words and actions but they also go above and beyond to promote inclusiveness among all members of the Bucknell Community.

Galaan takes pride in the life that he lives by engaging with as many of his peers as possible. He speaks up for marginalized communities, takes advantage of every opportunity presented to him, holds multiple leadership roles on campus and through it all is always authentically himself.

As a Posse Scholar, Senior Maker Assistant at 7th Street Studio & MakerSpace, a Campus Activities & Programs (CAP) Center Street Team Photographer, an Uptown Marketing Director, a previous Engineering Intern in Manhattan and future Microsoft Intern, it's quite obvious how involved Galaan is in the Bucknell community.
