Burmese Refugees Share Their Experiences at a Special Cultural Event

ROCHESTER, NY (11/12/2009)(readMedia)-- Nazareth College's Undergraduate Association Diversity Council and the Lake Avenue Baptist Church are proud to present an opportunity to listen to the unique stories and experiences of a group of Burmese refugees during a special cultural event, Exploring Cultures of Burma. This event will take place on Thursday, November 19 from 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. in the Nazareth College Shults Center Forum, at 4245 East Ave., Rochester, N.Y. 14618. This event will begin with an introduction by Rev. Sandy Hasenauer of Lake Avenue Baptist Church followed by a presentation by a group of Burmese refugees. They will talk about their challenges and experiences and present an indigenous dance. A question and answer session will follow, and the evening will conclude with information on how to volunteer and collect donations for the refugee community. There will also be a quilt raffle presented by the Karen Women's Weaving group.
