Business Groups, Consumer Advocates & Lawmakers to Unveil Plan to Lower Gasoline and Home Heating Costs

Group will unveil plan that will be presented to federal government and will call for President Bush to stop begging the Arabs to increase oil production when there are alternatives to energy crisis closer to home

NEW YORK, NY (05/16/2008)(readMedia)-- WHO: Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera, former member of the Assembly Light Rail Task Force, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Federation, other elected officials.

WHAT: Gasoline prices have now passed the $4.00 per gallon mark and economists are forecasting $7.00 per gallon prices within the next 18 months. The constant rise in fuel prices are impacting all sectors of the economy leading to increase food prices, air travel, and higher cost for all consumer goods. Group will unveil plan that will lower fuel costs in New York and the entire country, while increasing our national security. The plan will be sent to Washington by local elected officials.

WHY: New York’s economy is facing tremendous difficulties that are being made worse by the constant rise in home and automobile fuel costs. There are common sense approaches to dealing with our energy crisis which include options that protect our national security and economic strength. A plan will be unveiled today for the federal government to pursue.
