CHC Announces Free Emergency Preparedness Programs in English and Spanish
Training for Home Care Workers and Community Volunteers
EAST GREENBUSH, NY (09/17/2007)(readMedia)-- Community Health Care Services Foundation, Inc., (CHC), today announced the availability of three Emergency Preparedness programs in English and Spanish that provide preparedness training for home care workers and community volunteers responding to bioterrorism, terrorism, natural disasters, or infectious outbreaks such as Pandemic Flu. Made possible through a grant from the New York State Department of Health, two programs are designed for home health aides and paraprofessionals, and one program provides essential training for community volunteers.
CHC’s Emergency Preparedness video-streaming programs are available along with downloadable workbooks for each program at www.chcforum.org. Printed copies of the workbooks and the audio CDs are also available through CHC.
“As the government prepares a national response to health issues like the pandemic flu, so too must the home care industry,” said Phyllis Wang, president of CHC. “Home care is a key partner in emergency preparedness planning. Community response to emergencies is more efficient and effective when coordinated with local and state health authorities, which is why we are proud to be working so closely with the Department of Health to train home care workers and community volunteers.”
