CLU honors Baskin-Robbins director
Young alumna's internship launches career
THOUSAND OAKS, CA (09/07/2010)(readMedia)-- The California Lutheran University Alumni Association Board of Directors presented the 2010 Outstanding Young Alumna Award to the Baskin-Robbins Director of Marketing for Asia.
Sara Larcombe of Marengo, Ill., accepted the award Aug. 31 at the Thousand Oaks university's Opening Academic Convocation. The recognition honors an alumnus or alumna of the last 10 years who has brought honor and distinction to the university through career achievement and/or a commitment to human welfare and social reform.
Larcombe served as an intern for Baskin-Robbins while studying at CLU and the company offered her a full-time position after she graduated with a degree in communication in 2000.
She has opened new stores in Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Bangkok and is currently focused on further expansion into China. Her favorite challenge is creating and naming the next Baskin-Robbins Flavor of the Month. In 2011, she plans to initiate an international partnership program between Baskin-Robbins and Avon to support breast cancer research.
Larcombe credits her success, in part, to her decision as a CLU freshman to run for president of her residence hall. She went on to serve in various leadership roles on campus, including peer advisor and Residence Hall Association president. Her classmates selected her as Student Leader and Senior of the Year in 2000.
CLU is located in Thousand Oaks, with Adult Degree Evening Program and graduate centers in Oxnard and Woodland Hills. With an enrollment of 3,700 students, CLU offers 36 undergraduate majors and graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and School of Education. Doctoral degrees in educational leadership, higher education leadership and clinical psychology are also offered. Members of the CLU student body come from across the nation and around the world and represent a diversity of faiths and cultures. For more information, please visit http://www.callutheran.edu.
