CPS Presents Israeli Sensation, The Idan Raichel Project, in Band's Final Stop on U.S. Tour

POTSDAM, NY (10/21/2013)(readMedia)-- The Community Performance Series in Potsdam will present the world renowned Israeli pop group, the Idan Raichel Project, in concert on the last stop of their U.S. tour, on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam's Maxcy Hall.

Idan Raichel, the creator and leader of the Idan Raichel Project, began his musical journey by inviting collaborations from artists of different generations and multiple ethnicities, singing in languages as diverse as Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic, Amharic and Swahili. The Project's blend of African, Latin American, Caribbean and Middle Eastern sounds, coupled with a spectacular live show, has enchanted audiences worldwide. The Boston Globe said the group "is changing the face of Israeli popular music."

The CPS Guest Artist Series concert will be the last stop on the Idan Raichel Project U.S. tour, which also included performances in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Miami, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, among other locations.

The Idan Raichel Project has collaborated with Grammy Award winner India.Arie, Alicia Keys, Patrick Bruel and more than 95 other singers as young as 16 and as old as 95, from dozens of different countries and cultural backgrounds. The Idan Raichel Project has performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Awards, as well as for President Barack Obama and the First Family at the Kennedy Center at the ceremony inaugurating the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. The group has also presented sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall and other major venues worldwide, and toured India, South America and Africa, recently releasing the highly praised "Tel Aviv Session" album with Mailian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré.

Idan Raichel is the driving force behind the Idan Raichel Project. He is a skilled keyboard and accordion player, as well as a singer. He writes and arranges all of the music the Idan Raichel Project performs.

The artists that will perform at SUNY Potsdam include: Idan Raichel (Israel), Maya Avraham on vocals (Israel), Cabra Casay on vocals (Sudan), Vograss Vessa on vocals (Ethiopia), Eyal Sela on woodwinds (Israel), Joel Perpignan on percussion (Brazil), Yaakov Segal on strings (Israel), Marc Kakon on guitar (Morocco), Ziv Rahav on bass (Israel), Itay Nizan on percussion (Israel), Alex Terrier on saxophone (France) and Niv Toar on trumpet (Israel).

Ticket prices range from $15 to $20 for adults, with additional discounts for students, seniors and SUNY Potsdam faculty/staff.
