POTSDAM, NY (02/02/2016)(readMedia)-- Community Performance Series will present David Finckel, Wu Han and Philip Setzer in concert on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall. The trio will be the Inaugural Cania Family Visiting Artist to visit SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

Violinist Philip Setzer joined David Finckel and Wu Han, co-artistic directors of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, to form a dynamic chamber music trio. Finckel and Han, who were named the 2012 Musicians of the Year by Musical America magazine, rank alongside Setzer among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Viewed as a trio which raises the bar for chamber music, Reichel Recommends stated that "they infuse their playing with lyricism and bring a broad palette of expressions to their interpretations."

The trio will showcase Beethoven's prowess as a composer, pianist and orchestrator with the performance of all six of his piano trios over the two concerts. These performances include two of Beethoven's most famous works: the "Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1," also known as his "Ghost" trio, and his "Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97," also known as his "Archduke" trio.

The 2 p.m. concert program includes: Beethoven's "Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 1, No. 1," his "Trio in C Minor, Op. 1, No. 3" and the "Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1 ('Ghost')."

The 7:30 p.m. concert program includes: Beethoven's "Trio in G Major, Op. 1, No. 1," the "Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 70, No. 2" and his "Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97 ('Archduke')."

Between the two concerts, a special period Austrian Viennese-themed dinner will be served on campus in Thatcher Hall for $25 per person. The dinner will feature favorites of Beethoven's time, including wiener schnitzel and Finnish pancakes.

Tickets and combo packages for the performances and the period Austrian Vienna-themed dinner are now on sale and can be purchased through the CPS Box Office, located in the lobby of SUNY Potsdam's new Performing Arts Center, or by calling (315) 267-227.
