Cake Decorating Class at The Kitchen

DES MOINES, IA (04/11/2023) (readMedia)-- Attend a cake decorating how-to class at The Kitchen on the Iowa State Fairgrounds on April 22, led by Gloria Olson, owner/operator of Glorious Desserts. This one-of-a-kind class will teach you how to decorate a cake from start to finish from icing a cake to creating textures, borders and designs with a variety of decorating tips, as well as creating flowers and how to best handle writing.

Gloria from Glorious Desserts has studied with several of the top cake designers in the United States and has taken classes at the French Culinary Institute in New York and the French Pastry School in Chicago. Her cakes and desserts have been featured in American Cake Decorating, Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbooking, Better Homes and Gardens, The International Cake Exploration Magazine, Mailbox News, The Chicago Sun Times, The Des Moines Register, the Des Moines Business Record, Honolulu Advertiser, The Californian, Clarion-Ledger, Reno Gazette Journal, USA Today, KCCI 8, WHOTV 13, WOI 5 and KDSM 17. Gloria has also had the pleasure of serving as a judge in the food department at the Iowa State Fair for many years and hosted popular demonstrations in The Kitchen during the Fair in 2022.

Participants will be provided with a two-layer round cake baked by Glorious Desserts, a cake board, cake box, icing and piping bags. Participants are asked to bring a 5-9" icing spatula, either off-set or straight, a rubber scraper spatula of any size and icing tips. A turn table or lazy susan is optional.

The class is limited to 20 participants, so it will fill up fast!
