Calling All Moms at the Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/21/2018) (readMedia)-- Youngsters put their vocal cords to the test in the Mom Calling Contest judged Friday, August 17 at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

In the Age 5 through 9 class of competition, Gabe Blankenship of Clive won first place. Adelyn Vinsand of Humboldt and Declan Blankenship of Clive tied second place.

Killian Simanek of Cedar Rapids won first place in the Age 10 to 15 division. Samuel Vis of Ames claimed second place and Gwen Pletcher of Des Moines earned third place.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
