Camp Lincoln Training Battalion Inactivates

SPRINGFIELD, IL (09/25/2015)(readMedia)-- SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The 129th Regiment (Regional Training Institute) held an inactivation ceremony for 3rd Battalion at the Illinois Military Academy on Sept. 19.

The 3rd Battalion was organized on Dec. 1, 2012 from new and existing elements of the 129th Regiment. Over the last three years, the battalion successfully conducted Officer Candidate School, Medic Sustainment Training, Combat Lifesaver Training, Army Basic Instructor Course, Small Group Instructor Trainer Course, and the Modern Army Combatives Program. These programs will continue under other battalions within the 129th Regiment.

The professionalism of the personnel assigned to the 3rd Battalion, and their steadfast commitment to excellence earned the trust of the state's senior leadership," said Lt. Col. Mark Whitlock of Springfield, Illinois, Commander of 3rd Battalion.

"Through their dedication to mission first, the 3rd Battalion made a lasting impact at all levels on the future success of the Illinois National Guard."

Whitlock and Master Sgt. Wendy Bartlett, Senior Battalion Noncommissioned Officer, participated in the casing of the battalion's colors during the ceremony.
