SOMERSET, KY (02/01/2016)(readMedia)-- Josh Anderson, former Major League Baseball player, was presented the Campbellsville University Leadership Award at a Pastor Appreciation Lunch held recently at Campbellsville University's Larry and Beverly Noe Somerset Education Center.

Anderson coaches baseball at Pulaski County High School and is a Campbellsville University graduate student.

Thirty-two local pastors, members of the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campbellsville University Church Outreach staff were in attendance.

Dr. G. Ted Taylor, associate vice president for development and church outreach who serves as director of the Office of Church Outreach, and Wes Carter, assistant director of church outreach, shared about Campbellsville University's Church Outreach program.

CU's Church Outreach is composed of 41 students, split into four teams that travel throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky sharing the gospel with churches.

The students vary in race, age and denominational background.

On an average Sunday, these students minister to 200 people per congregation conducting full church services. In the fall of 2015, the Church Outreach Teams conducted full church services in over 84 churches. Church Outreach Life Teams are available for any church, regardless of denomination.

Greg Gover, Southeast Kentucky Fellowship of Christian Athletes area director, said, "I want to say a special thank you to Campbellsville University for a great luncheon honoring and giving Josh Anderson the Leadership Award.

"We are fortunate to have folks like Campbellsville University; they are a great addition to our city, the City of Somerset. Their work is going to grow here."

"It was a great day in honoring the long standing partnership between Campbellsville University and Kentucky pastors," Carter said.
