Campbellsville University promotes Dr. Donna Hedgepath to provost

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (06/27/2017) (readMedia)-- Campbellsville University President Michael V. Carter has announced the promotion of Dr. Donna Hedgepath, vice president for academic affairs to the university's first provost and vice president for academic affairs position.

With this new title, Hedgepath assumes management responsibility for a range of university functions. She is the "first among equals" of Campbellsville University's vice presidents and can make decisions in the absence of Carter.

She became vice president for academic affairs in January 2015.

Carter said, "Dr. Hedgepath has demonstrated her leadership in a excellent and comprehensive manner.

"She has shown exceptional people skills and garnered respect among her colleagues. She brings a strong Christian faith to her position and weaves it into the progress that she has fostered in both the academic and student services areas.

"I am honored and humbled to receive this new title and opportunity to serve at a greater capacity," Hedgepath said.

"Campbellsville University is my alma mater, and I pledge to move her forward in a spirit of Christian servant leadership."

Hedgepath served as one of the institution's academic deans and served as a member of the Administrative Council, CU's highest level of administration, for two years representing the faculty, before her appointment as vice president for academic affairs.

Carter said, "As we move to a new level of university status, Dr. Donna Hedgpath will give us a sense of confidence and guidance that this institution needs. Campbellsville University is on an unpresented growth pattern and our students and alumni deserve the best, and she is!"

Hedgepath, a 1992 bachelor's and 1999 master's graduate of Campbellsville University, has recently been appointed by Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin as vice chairperson of the Education Professional Standards Board with her term ending June 30, 2020.

She has participated in the national accreditation of the School of Education as well as gaining knowledge of the SACSCOC accreditation standards during her time as dean.

Prior to her tenure as dean, Hedgepath served as a member of the faculty in both the Schools of Education and Music. She brings to her new position ten plus years of experience with Campbellsville University and proven administrative leadership skills as an academic dean and faculty member.

Hedgepath has a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Kentucky which she received in August 2006. She specialized in teacher quality.

She received her Master of Music in Music Education degree from Campbellsville University in 1999 with core content for arts and humanities curriculum alignment as her research focus. She received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from CU in 1992.

She has her rank I in vocal music K-12 and gifted and talented education endorsement from Western Kentucky University.

She served as a teacher in the Marion County School System from 1993 to 2001 and taught one year in the Taylor County School System.

She is married to Pete Hedgepath, a bass fishing coach at Campbellsville University. They have three sons, Mitchell Tinnell and Nathan and Aaron Hedgepath.
