CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (03/28/2014)(readMedia)-- Alyssa B. Barker, a senior of Campbellsville University from Frankfort, Ky., will be showing her senior art exhibit April 3-11 at Campbellsville University in the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

She will be displaying black and white and color photography and graphic design. The public is invited to her exhibit.

Hours are: Mondays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from noon to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Barker graduated from Western Hills High School, located in Frankfort, in 2010. She will be graduating from Campbellsville University in May will a degree in art with a graphic design emphasis and a minor in photojournalism.

Barker has had work displayed at the 18th Exhibition of the most beautiful calendars and Christmas cards at the ITD Gallery in Novi Sad, Serbia. She was awarded the first place award for the best desktop calendar in 2014.

Barker said, "When you look at my textures, I want the viewer to have to stare at it for a few minutes to figure out what the piece is from a zoomed in spectrum." She said, "From my four years in Campbellsville the majority of my work was done here and at the end of my show I want people to see how I see this town and how I turned it around."

Barker comes from a background of artists in her family but not photographers. "One day our memories will fade, and what we have left will be the memories we left behind through a photograph. From fashion to documentary, my goal within my pictures is not always to have a specific meaning but to stop time in its tracks and maybe make you see something in a way you might not on your own," she said.

"In my show, you'll find many photographs, and you'll also find a few pieces of my graphic design work," she said. "The viewer should be able to notice my transformation from working with line to type and using my photography to combine the best of both worlds. In doing both, I was able to think differently about my photography and graphic design as a whole and how to make them work together."
