Campbellsville University's politics and journalism class following U.S. Senate race

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (10/27/2014)(readMedia)-- Campbellsville University's politics and journalism class (MAC 380) is getting involved with the 2014 United States Senate race through social media and with their peers.

The class, taught by Bill Goodman of Kentucky Educational Television, has set its focus on following the upcoming Senate race and election. They have created a blog to increase attention for the race, and they have conducted a poll of CU students asking how social media is being used and their opinion on the upcoming U.S. Senate election between Mitch McConnell (R), the incumbent, and challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes (D).

Goodman said the class meets every Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to discuss aspects of the Senate race that affects voters across Kentucky. The students' blog is "Kentuckians to DC," and it features infographics about Grimes and McConnell made by both campaign staffs.

The blog also contains video advertisements from both candidates from the start of their campaigns until the final week before Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The members of the class are Starla Bond of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; Meredith Eastham of Hopkinsville, Ky.; James Higgins of the United Kingdom; Kendall Riddle of Louisville, Ky., and Logan Johnson, Matthew Schmuck, Dylan Morse, Cameron Miller and Michael Rothacker, all of Campbellsville.
