Caring Dishes Win State Fair Awards

DES MOINES, IA (09/03/2021) (readMedia)-- Alisa Woods of Des Moines won first place and $200 in the Breast Cancer Themed Food for a Friend in Need competition, judged Friday, August 20, at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.

Lauren Probst of Windsor Heights earned second place and $100, and Susie Jones of Winterset claimed third place and $50.

Entries were judged on taste, creativity and story.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 134 divisions, 603 classes and nearly 6500 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air.
