Marymount University President James E. Bundschuh congratulates Carey Dudkovsky

ARLINGTON, VA (01/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Marymount University in Arlington, VA, recently awarded the 2009 Alumni Achievement Award to Carole "Carey" Adams Dudkovsky of Portsmouth, VA, who earned her bachelor's degree in Fashion Design at Marymount University in 1994.

Dudkovsky says that when she visited an orphanage in Ukraine in the mid-'90s, her "mission in life became clear." That mission was to help children in need. In 1997, she was able to translate that goal into a reality when she launched the Ukraine Children's Project (UCP).

UCP is a non-profit humanitarian ministry that assists orphans in Ukraine who are in desperate need of medical care and love. The organization's Web site explains that UCP exists to respond to "the overwhelming needs of children left without parental care because of the economic and social problems Ukraine is facing as it grows in independence as a free Republic."

Through UCP, Dudkovsky has established a network of individuals who are committed to purchasing medical supplies and equipment. She has also secured the volunteer assistance of people from many walks of life, from construction workers, to educators, to doctors and dentists. Under the auspices of UCP, these volunteers make several mission trips to Ukraine each year, providing vital services and loving support that can transform the lives of orphaned children.

Carey Dudkovsky is also the founder and president of the Children Are Our Hope Foundation, established out of Vinnitsa, Ukraine. She, her husband, and their two young daughters have committed themselves to networking with 36 orphanage directors in Vinnitsa to assist orphans there with their physical and educational needs.
