Cast and crew set for Northwest's production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"

SENATOBIA, MS (08/25/2017) The Northwest Mississippi Community College Theatre Department is in rehearsals for its next production, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a musical comedy based on the book by Rachel Sheinkin with music and lyrics by William Finn.

Performance times for the show are Wednesday, Oct. 18, Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m.

The cast and crew for the production have been announced, according to director Sadie Shannon, Northwest theatre chair.

Cast members are Anna Grace Marshall of Senatobia as Rona Lisa Perretti; Rodney Hall of Olive Branch as Mitch Mahoney; Matt Williams of Hernando as Douglas Panch; Steile Warren of Lake Cormorant as Olive Ostrovsky; Cari Wiley of Olive Branch as Marcy Park; Preslie Ann Cowley of Cleveland as Logainne "Schwarzy" Schwartzandgrubenierre; Zach Farrow of Strayhorn as Leaf Coneybear; Jacob Vogelsang of Hernando as William Barfee and Brynden Foster of Senatobia as Chip Tolentino.

Musical director is Dr. Saundra Bishop; technical director is Alyssa Algee; stage manager is Jon Tackett of Hernando; and assistant stage managers are Griffin Johnson of Olive Branch and Kay Smith of Southaven.

According to StageAgent.com, "an eclectic group of sixth-graders arrives at the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, each eager to win for very different reasons. With an engaging, tuneful score by William Finn and a sweet, funny book by Rachel Sheinkin, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee causes audiences to fall in love, both with the show itself and its 'perspicacious,' 'jocular' and 'effervescent' spellers."
