Central Penn College Announces Foundation Trustee Appointments

SUMMERDALE, PA. (01/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Jennifer Buehler '91 was elected as chair of the Central Penn College Education Foundation Board of Trustees at its quarterly meeting on December 7, 2011. Buehler, whose duties began January 1, is senior vice president-investments of Buehler Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in Lemoyne, Pa. Buehler was a legal studies major at Central Penn and has been an active trustee and member of the board's executive committee since 2004. Prior to Buehler's election as chair, William B. Boles served nine consecutive years in the role.

"Jennifer has already proven to be a huge asset and fantastic leader for the Education Foundation," says Matt Lane, director of the Education Foundation. "I'm looking forward to working closely with her in this new leadership position."

The Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a sole mission to raise funds to support Central Penn College students through scholarships. There are 12 trustees who lead the foundation through their expertise, knowledge of the community and belief in the power of philanthropy to change lives. Trustees are elected to three-year terms with a nine-year term limit and officers are elected and serve for one-year terms.

For the 2012 term, Janis Peck, a member of the trustees since 2007, was elected vice chair, Timothy Engle was re-elected as treasurer for his third term and Karen Holtzman was elected secretary. During the December meeting, Boles was recognized for his leadership on the board.

"William Boles' guidance during the foundation's entire 10-year history was exceptional and inspiring," says Central Penn President Todd A. Milano.

During Boles' tenure as chair of the trustees, the Education Foundation grew from the establishment of a scholarship endowment to an endowment of $2.3 million. Boles oversaw the completion of the foundation's first million dollar campaign and led the foundation to implement two three-year plans for strategic advancement. The Education Foundation honored Boles with a plaque that will be displayed in the college's student fellowship area.

Boles, a partner with Boles Metzger Brosius & Emrick, P.C., resides in Camp Hill; Buehler resides in Mechanicsburg; Engle, first vice president of investments with the Turnbridge Group, RBC Wealth Management, resides in Mechanicsburg; Holtzman resides in Harrisburg; and Peck, director of development with Sacred Heart Parish and School, resides in Baltimore, Md.

Every year, the foundation is committed to growing the scholarship endowment, and increasing scholarship amounts. In 2011, a total of 143 scholarships were disbursed through the foundation, which raised more than $375,000 in scholarship contributions, as well as $54,000 in new pledge commitments for a total of $429,000 raised. Since the foundation began distributing scholarships in 2004, more than 500 students have been helped with scholarships totaling $394,425.
