SUMMERDALE, PA (09/18/2012)(readMedia)-- A total of 16 students, faculty and staff from Central Penn Lancaster volunteered at five different organizations for the United Way of Lancaster County's Day of Caring September 7 and 8. Two students volunteered both days. The group assisted with the following projects:

  • Helping at two daycares with projects, reading and entertaining, including a story time session
  • Making thank you calls to donors for the American Red Cross
  • Painting, cleaning and yard work at Hope House Catholic Charities
  • Maintenance for offices, cleaning and yard work for the Housing Development Corporation

"You could tell the aides at both of the daycares were happy to have the extra help," says Enrollment Assistant Melissa Leibig, who coordinated Lancaster's efforts. "Some of the kids were hugging us and asking if we would come back to play again. Everyone had a really good time."
