Centre College's Ben Slone wins award at Kentucky Academy of Sciences meeting

DANVILLE, KY (12/05/2011)(readMedia)-- Ben Slone of Danville, a junior at Centre, was awarded first place for his oral presentation in the engineering section of the paper presentations at the Kentucky Academy of Sciences (KAS) meeting. Slone's paper examined research he conducted while completing an internship at Northwestern University last summer.
Centre students held their own against major research universities at the annual KAS meeting held at Murray State University on Nov. 4-5. In addition to Slone, a second Centre student won an award for a paper presentation, while several others won awards for poster presentations. The KAS event is open to undergraduates from any college or university in the Commonwealth
Slone, a chemical physics major, is the son of Dwayne and Heather Slone of Danville and is a graduate of Boyle County High School.
