Centre College's John Kieffer named All-American

DANVILLE, KY (11/21/2011)(readMedia)-- John Kieffer of Dublin, a sophomore at Centre College in Danville, Ky., received dual honors at the NCAA Division III cross country national championships at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Kieffer completed the 8k course in 24:31.28, earning him 14th place out of 279 runners.
That time was also the fastest any Centre College runner has ever recorded on an 8k course, eclipsing the previous record by 12 seconds. By finishing in the top 35, he was named an All-American, only the second Centre student to ever receive such an honor in cross country. By finishing in the top 15, Kieffer received an additional special recognition and a trophy at the awards ceremony.
Kieffer is the son of Jeff and Marianne Kieffer of Dublin and is a graduate of Dublin Coffman.
Centre College, founded in 1819 and chosen to host its second Vice Presidential Debate in 2012, is ranked among the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges, at 42nd in the nation, and ranks 27th for best value among national liberal arts colleges. Forbes magazine ranks Centre 34th among all the nation's colleges and universities and has named Centre in the top five among all institutions of higher education in the South for three years in a row. The 2010 Open Doors Report, published by the Institute for International Education, ranks the College second in the nation for percentage of students who study abroad.
