Chadron State Wind Symphony plans Casper concert

CHADRON, NE (03/15/2010)(readMedia)-- The Chadron State College Wind Symphony will perform a concert in Casper on Thursday, April 8. The event, which is open to the public free of charge, will be 7:30 p.m. at Durham Hall in the Aley Fine Arts Center at Casper College.

Dr. Adam Lambert, the symphony's conductor, said the concert will be the group's first appearance in Casper in many years.

The Wind Symphony is the premier concert band of the CSC music department. Its membership consists of both music majors and non-majors, with a membership of 45 students.

The group was invited to perform at the Nebraska Music Educators Convention in Lincoln, Neb., in November 2009, and will tour in the Denver area later this spring.

Works to be performed include, "Festive Overture" by Dmitri Shostakovich, "Rolling Thunder" by Henry Fillmore, "Scenes from the Louvre" by Norman Dello Joio, and Percy Grainger's "Molly on the Shore." Also, clarinet and flute soloists will perform works by Mozart and Weber.
