Chairman Mondello Questions Governor's Priorities

ALBANY, NY (06/22/2007)(readMedia)-- After presiding over one of the most dysfunctional and unproductive legislative sessions in recent memory, Governor Spitzer’s current attempt to deflect responsibility for his lack of leadership and results is the latest in a growing string of disappointing embarrassments.

Governor Spitzer should have spent more time during the session working to get things done for New Yorkers instead of bullying, focusing on partisan politics, and traveling around the state and across the country to raise large amounts of money in flagrant violation of his own self-imposed “limits.” All the while, he was hypocritically criticizing lawmakers for not supporting his plan, which would close the doors to higher office to everyone but millionaires like him.

Unfortunately, it appears that the Governor would still rather drive his own personal, political agenda than accomplish real results for the people of New York State.
