Charles Estberg of Los Gatos honored by Ripon College

1975 graduate awarded Distinguished Alumni Citation

RIPON, WI (07/14/2010)(readMedia)-- Charles E. Estberg, originally of Los Gatos, Calif., was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Citation by the Ripon College Alumni Association during its annual dinner June 25.

Estberg, class of 1975, was a Combined Foreign Language major at Ripon College. Currently he works for the Department of Defense as an Intelligence Advisor to NATO. In 1997, Charles was granted a fellowship at the Brookings Institution. In 2006, Charles was the recipient of the National Security Agency's Meritorious Civilian Service Award.

Charles has been a little league coach for eight years, is a literacy volunteer for Anne Arundel County correctional system, and is a 100-pint blood donor.

Charles and his wife, Lucie, have two children, Charlie and Robb.

The purpose of the Distinguished Alumni Citation is to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves by representing what the college seeks to achieve in the education it affords. Candidates are selected on any one of the following:

1. For achieving distinction in his/her chosen field.

2. For rendering outstanding service to his/her country, state or community.

3. For rendering outstanding service to, and demonstrating a loyal and active interest in Ripon College.

Nominations may be made by members of the faculty, administration, individual alumni and groups or alumni clubs through the Office of Annual Fund, Alumni Relations & Parent Programs for presentation to the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
