Charleston Women's Soccer Lands Three on NSCAA All-Region Team
CHARLESTON, WV (12/07/2010)(readMedia)-- Three University of Charleston women's soccer players landed on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Atlantic All-Region Team led by senior Fallon Nicholas (Sacramento, CA/American River College) as a Second Team selection.
Nicholas was the top scoring defender for Charleston with five goals and three assists on a defense that allowed 1.26 goals per game. Charleston's defense ended the regular season ranked as a top 10 defense nationally in points allowed and points per game.
Sophomore Elyse Surbaugh (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) and freshman Kimberly D'Angelo (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) were the other Golden Eagles selected as they were honored as Third Team selections. Surbaugh ended the season tied for fourth on the team with 13 points on four goals and five assists. D'Angelo concluded her rookie season leading the West Virginia Conference with eight assists and finished fifth in the conference with 20 points (6 goals, 8 assists).
Charleston concluded its 2010 campaign with an overall record of 11-6-1, while holding an 8-1 mark in the West Virginia Conference to finish in second place.
