ANNVILLE, PA (10/26/2010)(readMedia)-- Cited as one of the greatest films in the history of American cinema, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) was the second movie to win all five major Academy Awards. The film, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Allen Theatre, is part of the Lebanon Valley College fall 2010 Colloquium Series on HEALTH. Tickets are $1 for non-LVC students and $3 for the general public. The film is free to LVC students.

Jack Nicholson plays Randle Patrick Murphy, a recidivist criminal transferred to a mental institution for evaluation. Murphy battles legendary Nurse Mildred Ratched (Louise Fletcher) in this remake of the 1962 novel by Ken Kesey.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest dominated the 1976 Academy Awards as the first film in 41 years to sweep the major categories of best picture, director, actor, actress, and screenplay. It was also nominated for an additional four Oscars. It Happened One Night (1934) was the first film to sweep the major categories at the Academy Awards.
