BATAVIA, NY (08/14/2014)(readMedia)-- Launching a new career or brushing up on the latest skills set-students of all persuasions and ages can still enroll for the fall 2014 semester at Genesee Community College. With more than 60 different academic programs with many featuring the latest technological innovations, as well as small class sizes, caring faculty and affordable tuition-now is the time to enroll at GCC! The fall semester starts Monday, August 25, 2014.

This fall, GCC launches its new Food Processing Technology Associate of Applied Science degree. The two-year, 63-credit program prepares students for an abundance of 'tasteful' opportunities. Western New York is home to a thriving food manufacturing industry with more than 600 companies in the region, and GCC is providing a $500 scholarship to take the first FPT 101 course that starts September 23. Recent graduates from the PSG program now have good paying jobs in Buffalo or Rochester at sleep labs and clinics. GCC's Sleep Tech program is unique to the region and graduates are performing well above the national average on the registered PSG exam. Additionally, the program is adapting to meet student needs as it begins to offer more online courses.

There are also nine different degrees and certificates offered in Information Technology including Computer Information Systems, AS; Computer Systems and Network Technology, AAS and Computer Support and Operations, AAS. Jobs with great starting salaries are plentiful with these skills, and graduates can usually pick the specific industry and the geographic location where they desire to work.

Theatre Technology AAS, Veterinary Technology AAS and Biotechnology AS round-out GCC's technology programs. Free academic and financial aid advisement is available to all students, both new or returning, to learn about these and many other college programs.

"GCC is always innovating and working to stay on the cutting edge of how to deliver educational opportunities to our students," Dr. Virginia Taylor, vice president for Student and Enrollment Services said. "Our faculty and staff are well-known for their commitment to student success and our tuition is among the most affordable in New York State."
