Chemistry Research Published in Scholarly Journal

Carthage Chemistry alumni Iman Deanparvar '25, Kaleigh Leach '25, Jack DeSalvo '23, and Lucus Schneider '23 coauthored a paper: "Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study of Stabilizer Association with the Val122Ile Transthyretin Variant," which recently appeared in the journal Biophysica.

Their research used computer simulations to study how small molecules interacted with a protein associated with a genetic type of heart disease. Deanparvar and DeSalvo worked on their research as students through Carthage's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience program. The research was supported by the National Science Foundation and sponsored by the Carthage Department of Chemistry.
