Chesapeake Beach Student Awarded Pat Collins Calvert County Scholarship

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- Austin Dice of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, has been awarded a Pat Collins Calvert County Scholarship at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The scholarship was established in 2003 by Ann Collins in memory of her husband to benefit students from Calvert County with academic merit and financial need.

Dice, Class of 2014, is on the varsity cross country team, a member of the chamber singers, a member of the choir, a media technician, and a set painter for the plays performed on campus. He intends to pursue a career in education and join a volunteer organization like the Peace Corps where he can travel and explore the world.

St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
