Chicago resident Vanessa Delgado receives Dominican's Outstanding Service Leadership Award
RIVER FOREST, IL (05/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Vanessa Delgado, a resident of Chicago, recently received the Outstanding Service Leadership Award from Dominican University for her extraordinary service on campus and in the larger community.
Delgado began her service leadership at Casa Central, a program devoted to strengthening Hispanic communities throughout Chicago. She also became a student coordinator for the university's Service Learning program. She is a leader with several campus student organizations, including the Campus Climate Committee and the Organization of Latin American Students (OLA). This year she was chosen to represent Dominican in Washington D.C. at a training meeting with the Interfaith Youth Core. She has been actively involved in the Better Together Campaign to advocate for the common good and to advance student participation addressing the issues of hunger and interfaith dialogue.
Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor's degrees through the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and master's degrees through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, and the Graduate School of Social Work.
