Children for Children Awarded Four Stars and Named Among the Top 10 Charities Worth Watching
New York Children’s Organization Recognized by Charity Watchdog
NEW YORK, NY (08/09/2007)(readMedia)-- New York non-profit Children for Children (CFC) was recently named among the country’s "Top 10 Charities Worth Watching" by Charity Navigator, America’s premier independent charity evaluator. The award honors “truly exceptional” not-for-profit organizations for exceptional financial health and ability to manage growth.
Children for Children is dedicated to engaging young people in hands-on service. In 2006 CFC’s service programs engaged over 35,000 children from across the socio-economic spectrum. Children for Children’s programs, which encourage young people to "Grow Involved" starting at an early age, range from monthly hands-on service events and awareness campaigns, to after-school and in-school programming and ongoing book drives.
Charity Navigator evaluates non-profits in two broad areas of financial health: organizational efficiency and capacity. The overall rating combines the charity’s performance in both areas and shows donors how responsibly a charity will use their support. Children for Children was awarded four stars, the highest honor, in this process.
Charity Navigator works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of America's largest charities. The organization works to guide intelligent giving by helping donors make informed giving decisions and provides unbiased information on over five thousand charities.
CFC is thrilled to announce Charity Navigator’s recognition. “Children for Children works hard to engage as many children as possible through meaningful, replicable hands-on service and is very excited to be recognized for our commitment to efficiency and responsible growth,” say Children for Children’s Executive Director, Maggie Jones.
