Christopher McDougle to be honored at Valpo Homecoming

VALPARAISO, IN (09/23/2010)(readMedia)-- Christopher McDougle will be one of 16 alumni and volunteers recognized by the Valparaiso University Alumni Association during Homecoming festivities at the University this weekend. The honorees will be recognized during a special worship service at 10 a.m., September 26 in the Chapel of the Resurrection.

McDougle of Indianapolis, a 1981 graduate, will be honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Alumni Association's highest award for those alumni who have enhanced the prestige of the University by virtue of their character, integrity and nationally recognized accomplishments.

McDougle is currently employed at the Indiana University School of Medicine, with the department of psychiatry as the Albert E. Sterne professor and chairman, director for the section of child and adolescent psychiatry, and executive director of the Institute for Psychiatric Research. He also has served as the department of psychiatry's Robert E. Houk professor and as a diplomat on the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for both Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. McDougle has been committed to volunteering with the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression. He also has remained very involved with Valparaiso University since his graduation, contributing to the Gilbert Cook Summer Research Project in Chemistry fund and working to provide summer internship opportunities for current Valpo students with the psychiatry department at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
