SPRINGFIELD, MA (11/28/2011)(readMedia)-- Christopher Milanesi of North Adams was recently named a recipient of the Royal Skookum Award, an honor presented by Western New England University's Alumni Association. The Skookum is awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in all their endeavors: academics, co-curricular activities, sports, and community service. "Skookum" is a Native American Chinook Indian word meaning "excellence." Milanesi was one of 15 outstanding seniors to receive the award during the University's Homecoming Weekend.
A Finance major, Milanesi is member of the Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Mortar Board honor societies. He is active in co-curricular activities, having served as a member of Class Council, a member of the Improv on the Rocks Improvisational Comedy Troupe where he spent two years as President, and a member of the executive board of Campus Activities Board, where he is currently President. Milanesi's volunteer efforts include mentoring students at Cathedral High School as a tutor for Junior Achievement, working on the Many Hands for Haiti benefit concert, and participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. He is currently enrolled in the University's Five Year Bachelor/MBA program, and plans to complete his MBA by next year.
