Chrysler Ready to Launch 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Highly Anticipated New Jeep to Arrive at Quirk Chrysler Jeep in June

BOSTON, MASS (06/10/2010)(readMedia)-- Greater Boston Jeep enthusiasts will soon have a new Jeep to love. In what senior executives are calling "the beginning of the new Chrysler," the automaker's Jeep division is preparing for the June launch of its completely redesigned 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Reflecting Chrysler's partnerships with Mercedes-Benz and Fiat, the impressive new SUV offers new levels of craftsmanship and luxury, as well as a standard Pentastar V6 engine that delivers 23 mpg on the highway, an 11% improvement in efficiency over past models.

"Customers can look forward to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee's arrival in June," said Eric Ao, General Manager of Greater Boston Jeep dealer Quirk Chrysler Jeep. "People are very excited about the new Grand Cherokee as this is the first major release from the reorganized Chrysler."

Confidence is high at Chrysler that the new Grand Cherokee will be a strong seller-so high that the company is adding a second shift at its Jefferson North plant in Detroit to keep up with demand. Chrysler plans to start the second shift on July 19, adding 1,080 jobs to a plant that already employs more than 1,700.

The 2011 Jeep Cherokee is built according to Fiat's strict manufacturing standards. One look at the interior, which features high-quality upholstery and natural wood accents, shows the new thinking that shapes every aspect of the Grand Cherokee's design and construction.

Under the hood lies a five-speed automatic transmission built by Mercedes. In the standard package with the Pentastar V6, the Grand Cherokee can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Those who need more towing power can choose the optional Hemi V8 engine paired with a Chrysler-designed five-speed automatic transmission. This package ups the towing capacity to 7,200 pounds while preserving a highway rating of 20 mpg.

The new Grand Cherokee is also ready to tackle everything from Mass Pike potholes to Green Mountain trails, thanks to its available QuadraLift adjustable air suspension system. With nearly 11 inches of available ground clearance, the Grand Cherokee offers more off-road height than any other SUV in its class. At the push of a button, QuadraLift lowers the Grand Cherokee by 1.5 inches, making it easy for passengers to get in and out.

"As the premier Greater Boston Chrysler Jeep dealer, we expect to sell through our initial delivery of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee very quickly," Ao said. "We encourage customers who want to buy this new Jeep to get in touch with us now to reserve one. Boston-area Jeep drivers know that the Grand Cherokee is a versatile, fun SUV for every New England season, and we expect the supply to be very limited until later in the year."
