City of Staunton Announces Fee Reduction Effective Immediately at Gypsy Hill Golf Course
The Gypsy Hill Golf Course Green Fee Rate Drops to $35 and Credit Card Acceptance Coming Soon
STAUNTON, VA (02/19/2010)(readMedia)-- The Gypsy Hill Golf Course will be lowering their daily green fees effective immediately. The course rate will drop from $45/ 18 holes to $35/18 holes and that includes the cart fee. This fee reduction is breaking news, "Our goal with the reduction in green fees is to keep our fees in line with and stay competitive with other courses in our area", said Lacy King, Mayor of the City of Staunton. This reduction marks the first time golf green fees have been decreased.
There will be several other promotional packages and membership incentives that will also go into effect immediately. The "Free Cart Mondays" will be a perk for the GHGC membership (limited to one 18 hole round) . While "Foursome Thursdays" will benefit mostly groups walk-in golfers as the $99 rate includes golf carts and green fees for all four golfers. The City will continue with the "Twilight Special" - $29.00 for both green fee and cart fee after 2pm on any day of the week. Irivn Hoyt, Golf Greens Superintendent for the Staunton Recreation and Parks Department surmises, "The new rates could increase the prospective membership pool as the course and it's rates are now competitive with other area golf clubs. We could also draw a new segment of the population, maybe first time golfers who can now afford the green fees".
If the rate reduction and specials isn't enough good news, by the time Spring rolls around the City will also be accepting credit card payments for green fees, cart fees and membership. "This will greatly assist the golfers who would like to spread out membership payments and will provide a major convenience to the walk-in golfers who are not carrying cash", said Hoyt.
The golf course, now competitive with other area courses, is in the best condition of it's life thanks to a new irrigation system that was installed 2 years ago. "We are proud of our 18-hole golf course which is a rarity in a town of Staunton's size, the new rates are the icing on the cake", said Chris Tuttle, Director of Parks and Recreation. Gypsy Hill Golf Course has the most affordable membership rate in the Shenandoah Valley. "There is no better time than right now to become a member, we are expecting a great response to our course and the new rates", said Tuttle
