STAUNTON, VA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Staunton Parks & Recreation will be holding a Golf Tournament at Gypsy Hill this Saturday on June 25 to raise money for a Youth and Teen Scholarship fund. The fund will be used to subsidize underprivileged local youth/teens participation in their recreation programs. Currently there is no such scholarship fund, and they are seeking the community's help to achieve this lofty goal.

Many other Parks & Recreation Departments have such funds, and Staunton does get calls asking about assistance. We hope that, with this new fund, youth and teens can apply for assistance to programs, trips and athletics which will introduce them to new experiences they might not otherwise be able to enjoy. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund, from which families of youth and teens may apply for needed funding.

The tournament is a 4 Man Captain's Choice. The price to play in the tournament is $35 and includes lunch. Mulligans will be sold on site. Check-in is at 8:30am.

Prizes for the tournament include gift certificates to Dicks Sporting Goods, local restaurants and others. To make a team reservation, contact Claire Anderson at (540) 332-3945 or Wes Allred at (540) 332-3949

There is also an advertising opportunity to become a hole sponsor for businesses or individuals. The sponsorship price is $50 which includes the business/individual name or logo displayed on a yard sign at the designated hole. Parks and Rec will also mention the business/individual during the event and in all 'Thank Yous' to sponsors.

If interested in sponsorships, please contact Claire Anderson at (540) 332-3945 or andersonca@ci.staunton.va.us
