Clean Energy Advocates Welcome President Obama

ACE NY Joins Call to Extend Energy Tax Incentives

ALBANY, NY (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- President Barack Obama today visited the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, NY, highlighting sustainable job creation and high-tech manufacturing in the Empire State. The Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE NY), a statewide coalition dedicated to promoting clean energy and energy efficiency technologies, welcomed the President and appreciated the opportunity to once again call attention to New York's progress in building an advanced energy economy.

"Today's visit from President Obama gives us a chance to recognize the clean energy industry's success thus far and look toward the future," said Carol E. Murphy, Executive Director of ACE NY. "New York State and the Capital Region have seen job creation, private investment and cost savings for consumers as a result of investing in clean and sustainable energy technologies, and with strong and consistent support at all levels there are a number of economic development opportunities we can still tap into."

"We applaud President Obama's focus on creating jobs by investing in affordable clean energy and hope Congress heeds his call to pass legislation that will extend the Production Tax Credit and expand the 30 percent tax credit to investments in clean energy manufacturing," continued Ms. Murphy. "These incentives are just the type of support that is needed to increase American manufacturing jobs and domestic clean energy investment, and will let regions like Tech Valley grow and thrive across the country."
