Clfiton Park Resident Frantz Michel is promoted to Colonel in the New York Army National Guard

CLIFTON PARK, NY (11/23/2011)(readMedia)-- Clifton Park resident Frantz Michel, a New York State Police investigator, has been promoted to Colonel in the New York Army National Guard.
Michel, an Iraq veteran, currently serves on the staff of the New York National Guard's Joint Forces Headquarters. He is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in 2012 as part of a team of senior New York Army National Guard leaders who will work as mentors with the Afghan National Army.
Michel was commissioned as a second lieutenant from the State University of New York In Albany in 1986 as a Military Police Officer. He has served as a Military Police Platoon Leader and Company Commander and a division level staff officer.
He served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005 as the Information Operations officer for the 42nd Infantry Division in Tikrit, Iraq.
Michel, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York and a Masters of Public Administration from Marist College, has served as New York State Trooper since 1988. He is currently a State Police Investigator.
His military awards include: The Bronze Star, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medial, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the New York State Defense of Liberty Medal, and the New York State Aid to Civil Authorities Medal.
He lives in Clifton Park with his wife Odaly Michel, and children Frederic, Andrew and, Emma. Another son, Tyler, lives with his mother.
